Onboarding

The Onboarding tile tracks training tasks and certifications — for new hires getting up to speed, and for anyone who needs to keep a certification current.

How it works

Each user has an onboarding instance — their personal record of assigned tasks. Tasks can be added individually or in task groups, a bundle of related tasks an admin can add or remove as a single unit. Groups marked Default on are automatically assigned to every new instance.

Some tasks require an unlinked training record (for a contractor or someone without an app account yet) — these can later be linked to a real user account without losing their history.

Tracking your own progress (Users)

  1. Open the Onboarding tile
  2. View your assigned tasks, grouped as configured by your admin
  3. Mark tasks complete as you finish them
  4. Upload supporting documents (certifications, training records) — each upload can include an expiry date

Certifications expiring within 30 days show an amber warning in the My Updates panel on the portal home screen; expired certifications show in red.

Admin view

Admins can:

  • View every user's onboarding progress, not just their own
  • Create, edit, and reorder onboarding tasks and task groups
  • Mark a task group as Default on so it's automatically assigned to new instances
  • Add or remove tasks and task groups from an individual's instance
  • Link an unlinked training record to a real user account
  • Configure specialty-role training requirements — see Roles & Permissions

Customizing the help panel

Admins can customize the title and text of Onboarding's "How to use this portal" help panel from within the portal, with a Reset to Default option if you want to revert.

Where certifications matter elsewhere

Onboarding certifications aren't just a record — other features check against them directly. For example, a Project's Compliance Checklist can require Competencies (role assignments like GD Supervisor or Locator) that are validated against each assignee's training record here before the checklist item can be marked complete.
