Event Settings
The event edit modal gives you per-instance control over every scheduling parameter. Open it by clicking the pencil icon in the event detail panel, or by double-clicking an event bar on the calendar.
Basic fields
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Event Name | Overrides the template name for this placed instance. |
| Start Date | The first calendar day of the event. |
| Duration (Work Days) | The number of days the crew works. Blocker days and rest days extend the calendar end date automatically. |
| Work Order | Reference number for cost tracking. |
| Event Color | Visual color of the bar on the calendar. |
Blocker behaviour
Controls how this specific event handles calendar blockers.
| Option | Behaviour |
|---|---|
| Respect all blockers | Work skips every blocked date. Calendar span extends to reach the required work-day count. |
| Respect selected blockers | Only the blockers you check in the list below affect this event. All others are ignored. |
| Ignore all blockers | Work proceeds every calendar day. Useful for activities that continue through holidays or maintenance windows. |
WARNING
When Respect selected blockers is active and a new blocker is added to the calendar after the event is already placed, the new blocker is not automatically selected. Open the edit modal to include it.
Rotation limits
Enable rotation limits to cap consecutive work days and insert mandatory rest periods.
Enabling
Check Enable rotation limits in the edit modal. Two fields appear:
- Max Days On — the maximum consecutive work days before rest begins.
- Min Days Off — the minimum days off in each rest period.
The summary line ("5d on / 10d off · 33% utilisation per cycle") and the 60-day preview strip update as soon as you move focus out of either field.
How rotation affects the calendar
Once saved, rest days are inserted throughout the event. On the calendar:
- Solid bars represent work segments.
- Hatched bars represent mandatory rest periods.
- Red chips in the detail panel's day grid mark both blocked dates and rest days.
The event's end date automatically extends so the full work-day count is reached within the rotation pattern.
TIP
A 10-work-day event with 5 Max Days On / 10 Min Days Off spans roughly 35 calendar days (5 on → 10 off → 5 on → 10 off, with blocker adjustments). The event cost is always based on work days only, not calendar span.
Schedule warnings
A Short Segment warning appears if a rotation pattern produces a trailing work segment shorter than the global minimum consecutive days setting (configured in Global Settings). The schedule remains valid — the warning is informational.
Linked events
Link an event to an anchor event so it repositions automatically whenever the anchor moves or changes duration.
Setting up a link
In the Event Links section of the edit modal:
- Select the anchor event from the dropdown.
- Choose Snap to:
start— this event's end aligns with the anchor's start (precedes the anchor).end— this event's start begins immediately after the anchor's end (follows the anchor).
Rotation state at the junction
When a linked event follows an anchor event (snap to end), consecutive worked days carry forward across the boundary. If the crew worked 3 days at the end of the anchor event, the dependent event starts counting from day 3 — not from zero.
The effective Max Days On at the junction is the lower of the two events' limits. Whichever limit would trigger rest first takes precedence.
Linked events with different rotation limits
When the anchor and dependent events have different Max Days On values, a warning appears on the dependent event. The schedule is still valid — the stricter limit applies only at the junction, and each event uses its own limit for internal segments.
Cascade redraw
When you drag the anchor event or change its duration, all linked dependents reposition immediately. No manual refresh is needed.
Vendors and cost
Attach vendors to this event instance from the Vendors section in the edit modal. Each vendor can have:
- Labor roles — people assigned to this event, with rate and hours per day.
- Equipment — machinery or tools, with rate and hours per day.
- Billable items — fixed fees, milestones, or pass-throughs.
Cost totals update in the detail panel as soon as the modal is saved.
Custom fields
Add arbitrary key-value pairs to an event using + Add Field. Custom fields appear in the detail panel and can be used for reference information that does not fit standard fields (permit numbers, contact names, etc.).
Notes
Free-text notes specific to this event instance. Visible in the detail panel and in exported reports.
Attachments
Upload files (PDFs, images, spreadsheets) to attach them to the event. Attachments are stored with the project and visible in the detail panel.
Save as Template
Check Save as Template before clicking Save to write your changes back to the underlying event template, updating the defaults for any future instances placed from it.
